When I went to Kosetsuen Park, Cherry trees were being pruned for spring cherry blossom time. So I got some twigs with floral buds asking pruners there. I put the twigs in a pail and covered with a plastic bag. Since then, I misted them every morning and now, they are out!
If you want to try this, how about visiting Kosetsuen Park, Goryokaku park, or Hakodate park in January;)
Notice: This year, they don't give cherry twigs at Goryokaku Park. When I visited there on March 5th, pruners were pruning cherry trees and beside them there were signs saying "Please keep away from pruners and this year they don't give you cherry twigs."
When I visited Mt. Hakodate last month, they were pruning cherry trees near the parking space near the gate of the mountain road;)
Akiko lives in a city next to Hakodate and loves to drive around Hakodate and surrounding area. I hope people who visit or live in the Southwest area of Hokkaido come to love the area, too. 函館の隣町在住で道南エリアのドライブ大好きAkikoです。道南を訪れたり、住んでいる人が土地を好きになってくれたらなぁ、と思います。
