Golden week ended. I drove through Goryokaku Park, but the parking lots around it were totally full, so I went to Sumiyoshi shrine which also has cherry trees on the way to the shrine. It was 6th of May, I believe.
Sumiyoshi Shrine is on the way to Cape Tachimachi. It is a small shrines, so only known to locals. When I went to there on Sunday, 8th, it started to lose their petals. But there is another good cherry blossom viewpoint. It is Hakodate Hachimangu Shrine. I think their cherry trees will be in full bloom in a few days. When I visited there, they were just starting to bloom. They are my favorite places to enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms.
Akiko lives in a city next to Hakodate and loves to drive around Hakodate and surrounding area. I hope people who visit or live in the Southwest area of Hokkaido come to love the area, too. 函館の隣町在住で道南エリアのドライブ大好きAkikoです。道南を訪れたり、住んでいる人が土地を好きになってくれたらなぁ、と思います。
