Last weekend, my husband and I drove to Esan thinking that it was the season to see azaleas in bloom. But it was too early to visit there. Maybe, today or tomorrow is best season to visit to enjoy beautiful azaleas.
The picture below was taken on May 29, 2010. It was 20 % in bloom.
Only this tree was in full bloom.
It was really a fine day and we could see Mt. Esan very well.
But my husband is asthmatic and for people with asthma, Mt. Esan area is hard to stay. It is a volcano and its sulfur stays in the air. If you are asthmatic, too, it's better not to stay longer.
Akiko lives in a city next to Hakodate and loves to drive around Hakodate and surrounding area. I hope people who visit or live in the Southwest area of Hokkaido come to love the area, too. 函館の隣町在住で道南エリアのドライブ大好きAkikoです。道南を訪れたり、住んでいる人が土地を好きになってくれたらなぁ、と思います。
